Answers for customers who received something through Fossaris, and for dealerships considering it.

About Fossaris

What is Fossaris?

Fossaris is a dealership communication platform that helps dealerships create, send, and manage customer communications.

Depending on the features your dealership uses, Fossaris can support:

  • Service coupons and digital wallet passes
  • One-off dealership passes and customer offers
  • Email and text-message communications
  • Personalized and reusable video messages
  • Vehicle walk-around videos
  • Financial Services educational videos
  • Customer responses and engagement tracking
Who sends communications through Fossaris?

Communications are sent by or on behalf of the dealership using Fossaris.

Foundry & Grit, LLC provides and operates the Fossaris platform, but the dealership determines who to contact, what information to send, and which Fossaris features to use.

Do I need to download an app?

No.

Customers do not need to download a Fossaris app.

Most Fossaris communications can be opened in a normal web browser. Eligible passes and offers may also be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

Coupons and Digital Wallet Passes

How do Fossaris coupons work?

A dealership may send you a service coupon or other promotional offer through Fossaris.

The specific offer, expiration date, restrictions, exclusions, and redemption terms displayed with that coupon are the terms that apply to it.

The dealership that issued the coupon is responsible for honoring it according to those terms.

Can I add a coupon to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet?

When a coupon or pass supports digital wallets, you may be offered the option to add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

You may also be able to view the offer directly in your browser.

What happens when a coupon expires?

An expired coupon can no longer be redeemed unless the dealership chooses to reactivate or replace it.

Contact the dealership if you have questions about an expired offer.

Can a dealership cancel a coupon?

Yes.

A dealership may cancel an offer if it was issued incorrectly, replaced, withdrawn, or is otherwise no longer valid.

How does a dealership know when I use a coupon?

An authorized dealership employee can mark a coupon as redeemed.

Fossaris records that redemption so the dealership can manage its offers and prevent duplicate use.

One-Off Passes and Custom Offers

Can a dealership create something other than a service coupon?

Yes.

Fossaris allows authorized dealership employees to create other customer-facing passes and offers.

These may be used for dealership events, customer benefits, special promotions, informational passes, or other approved dealership purposes.

Are custom passes always connected to a specific customer?

No.

Some passes may be created for a particular customer, while others may be created without customer information and distributed more broadly.

Can a dealership update a pass after it has been created?

Depending on the type of pass and its status, authorized users may be able to update an existing live pass or create a new version.

The dealership controls whether an existing pass is changed or replaced.

Can custom passes expire?

Yes.

A dealership may assign an expiration date to a pass or offer.

If the pass expires, it may no longer be available unless the dealership chooses to extend, reactivate, or replace it.

Text Messages and Customer Communications

Can a dealership send me text messages through Fossaris?

Yes.

Fossaris can be used by authorized dealership employees to send text-message communications to customers when the dealership has an appropriate basis to contact them.

Where does Fossaris get my mobile number?

Typically, the dealership provides contact information it already holds in its own customer records.

The dealership determines which customer records are used in Fossaris.

Can I stop receiving text messages?

Yes.

For automated text-message programs that support opt-out commands, reply STOP to stop receiving those messages.

You may also contact the dealership directly.

Opting out of text messages does not necessarily prevent the dealership from communicating with you through another lawful method.

What happens if I reply to a dealership text message?

Depending on the communication, your reply may be made available to the dealership employee or team responsible for the conversation.

Fossaris may record the reply and related communication activity so dealership staff can manage the conversation.

Are dealership text messages sent automatically?

Some messages may be initiated by dealership employees, while others may be generated or scheduled through dealership-approved workflows.

The dealership remains responsible for deciding when and why a customer is contacted.

Does Fossaris use artificial intelligence to write messages?

Fossaris may provide tools that help dealership employees draft or improve communications.

A dealership employee remains responsible for reviewing and sending the final communication.

Video Communications

Can a dealership send me videos through Fossaris?

Yes.

Dealership employees may use Fossaris to send customer-facing videos.

Examples may include:

  • Salesperson introductions
  • Vehicle walk-around videos
  • Personalized customer videos
  • Vehicle feature demonstrations
  • Dealership educational videos
  • Financial Services Manager introductions
  • Financial Services product education
Do videos play automatically?

Some introductory videos may play automatically the first time a customer opens the video page.

Other videos generally require the customer to press play.

How long are Fossaris videos available?

Availability depends on the type of video and dealership workflow.

Customer-specific videos may only remain available for a limited period.

Once a video expires, the customer may see a notice indicating that the video is no longer available and may be directed to contact the dealership.

Can a dealership tell if I watched a video?

Yes.

Fossaris may record activity such as whether a video was opened or viewed.

This information can help the dealership follow up appropriately.

Can a salesperson see if I share a video?

Certain Fossaris video workflows may allow sharing.

When sharing is enabled, Fossaris may record that the video was shared and may notify the original dealership employee.

What happens if the vehicle shown in the video has already been sold?

A dealership may update the customer-facing video page to indicate that the vehicle has been sold.

Contact the dealership for current availability or alternative vehicles.

Financial Services Videos

Why would a Financial Services Manager send me videos?

A Financial Services Manager may send educational videos explaining optional products or services that may be discussed as part of a vehicle purchase.

The videos are intended to give customers an opportunity to review information before or during the Financial Services process.

Can I respond to Financial Services videos?

Yes.

Depending on the dealership’s setup, you may be able to indicate responses such as:

  • Interested
  • Not Interested
  • Have Questions

The Financial Services Manager can then review your selections with you.

Does selecting “Interested” mean I purchased the product?

No.

A selection made through Fossaris does not by itself create a purchase or contract.

Final products, pricing, terms, disclosures, and agreements are handled through the dealership’s normal Financial Services process.

Customer Information and Privacy

Does Fossaris sell my information?

No.

Foundry & Grit, LLC does not sell or rent customer personal information and does not share customer information for third-party advertising.

Who controls my customer information?

The dealership is generally responsible for deciding which customer information is entered into Fossaris and how that information is used.

Foundry & Grit, LLC operates Fossaris as a service provider acting on the dealership’s instructions.

Can I ask for my information to be corrected or deleted?

Yes.

Because your dealership controls its customer records, contacting the dealership is usually the fastest way to request a correction or deletion.

You may also contact Fossaris, and we will work with the dealership as appropriate.

Do not use or redeem anything intended for another customer.

Contact the dealership that sent the communication and let them know.

The dealership controls its appointments, inventory, vehicle availability, service operations, pricing, promotional offers, and customer relationship.
